Welcome
A287 Farnham Road / Redfields Lane Improvement Works
Martin Grant Homes is carrying out improvements to the A287 (Farnham Road). This involves installing a major new roundabout to replace the existing Redfields Lane junction.
View works locationProgramme
Since August 2021, we have been carrying out work on the existing highway, occupying different parts of the road to build the roundabout and realigning the existing roads with the new layout.
We anticipate the scheme will be completed by Autumn 2022, by which time the new road configuration will be in place and two-way free flow traffic fully reinstated on the A287.
For the majority of our construction programme, the A287 will remain open for two-way traffic albeit at reduced speed. We will need to use temporary traffic lights towards the end of the works when we have to tie in new and existing roads.
Redfields Lane and Bowling Alley will be closed to through-traffic while this work is taking place. Diversions will be put in place and clearly signposted.
A map showing the traffic diversion routes can be found in our Key Documents and Downloads section. Further information about the diversions is also provided on our FAQs page.
Advance notice of works
Throughout the delivery of our works programme we will provide advance notice of works due to take place, any temporary traffic management measures being put in place and revised journey times. All roadworks will be clearly signposted for the duration of the project and a traffic marshall will be monitoring traffic and our works activity to ensure the safety of our workforce and the public.
Delivering in partnership
This is a complex, major construction project. All the work being undertaken has been approved by Hampshire Highways at Hampshire County Council, who will continue to oversee the programme for its duration and conduct regular site inspections to sign off construction as works progress.
Buxted Construction is contracted by Martin Grant Homes to carry out the road improvement works. Buxted Construction is an experienced firm with significant expertise in delivering major infrastructure and civil engineering projects such as this. About Martin Grant Homes
Martin Grant Homes is an award-winning, family-owned housebuilder based in Surrey. We are currently getting underway with delivering Albany Park, a new residential development in Church Crookham, Hampshire which will provide 300 new homes, along with a new food outlet, sports facilities and public open spaces.
Planning obligations attached to the planning permission for Albany Park - known as the Section 106 Agreement - will unlock nearly £5 million of improvements to directly benefit the local community in and around Church Crookham. These include delivery of improved education facilities and transport infrastructure in the local area, new sports facilities and open green spaces within Albany Park that incorporate a large Suitable Alternative Natural Green Space (SANGS).
The terms of our Section 106 Agreement also require us to carry out improvements to the A287 (Farnham Road) / Redfields Lane junction before the first homes at Albany Park become occupied. This involves installing a major new roundabout to replace the existing Redfields Lane junction.
